Midrash on the Weekly Torah Portion, led by Rabbi Kushner
Midrash: The Spaces Between The Worlds of Torah
Room 55, Fifth floor(NO CHARGE)
Saturdays, 9:15 – 10:15 am (starting on September 12)
Midrash is a unique, Jewish, literary art form. There is poetry, short story, novella, essay, and there is Midrash. Not commentary, which aims to explain the text, nor fantasy which springs from it, but literally a literature which begins and, then, ends with the words of sacred text. No other culture seems to have it. There are scores, probably hundreds of collections of Midrash written throughout Jewish history—indeed, they’re still being written and collected. Saturday morning Torah Hevra will read and argue about selections from Midrash Rabba, on the weekly parasha.
