Service Descriptions

First week of the month:  
   6:00 pm Classic Service in the Main Sanctuary with Cantor Barak and a rabbi
   6:00 pm Family Service - parents and children under age five in the Martin Meyer Santuary with Cantor Attie and rabbi

Second through fifth (if appropriate) weeks of the month
   6:00 pm  ONE SHABBAT - including parking and babysitting- appropriate for all ages

For families with young children:

First Friday Family Service  
6:00 pm on the first Friday of the month
This service is musical and perfect for families with children under the age of 5. Held in the Martin Meyer Sanctuary

During the school year, the service is followed by the reserve-ahead "Simchat Shabbat” dinner.   

Got Shabbat? Service
10:15 - 11:30 am (see schedule below)
This service is perfect for families with children under the age of 5.

Late Shabbat Young Adults Service


8:30 pm on the second Friday of the month
A unique Shabbat experience for young Jewish adults in their 20s and 30s, led by Rabbi Carla Fenves, Rabbi Sydney Mintz, Cantor Marsha Attie, Eric Schoen, and Jonathan Ferris. It is followed by a festive oneg with refreshments. For newcomers there is a welcome reception before the service at 8:00 pm.  Learn more at Young Adult Community.

Congregation Emanu-El and Jewish Federation Align to
Transport Senior Congregants to Shabbat Services

Thanks to a partnership with the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties, we offer transportation to monthly Shabbat services at no cost, and to evening High Holy Day services  and the Yizkor service at a minimal cost.  Congregation Emanu-El and the Federation share the cost of hiring transportation services through SilverRide.

Shabbat services are at 6:00 pm, with a pre-Oneg at 5:30 pm.  Transportation will be offered the first week of the month.  The service is led by clergy and Cantor Barak and held in the Main Sanctuary on the following dates:

January 2
January 30 - added for the installation of Cantor Marsha Attie in the Martin Meyer Sanctuary
February 6
March 6
April 10 - note changes: offered on the second week because of Passover, and this will be a One Shabbat service in the Martin Meyer Sanctuary
May 1
June 5
