There are many ways that members and our supporters can financially contribute to the congregation. In addition to an annual membership commitment, members may contribute to our Annual Giving campaign, a variety of funds designated for different aspects of temple life and our Endowment and Building Preservation Campaign.
Our Friends of Emanu-El program is for non-members with an affinity and connection to our temple. Many people who live outside of the Bay Area support Congregation Emanu-El with an annual contribution to the Friends of Emanu-El program. The Temple Chronicle is sent to all Friends of Emanu-El contributing at a level of $36.00 or more.

Permanent Yahrzeits and Memorial Book Listings
Remembering departed loved-ones is a mitzvah. As long as the deceased are in our hearts and minds, they continue to be a part of us. At Congregation Emanu-El you can honor the memory of your departed loved-ones with a Permanent Yahrzeit and a Permanent Memorial.
For a one-time contribution of $1,800, up to six names will be read in perpetuity at the Shabbat services marking their Yahrzeit. Additional names can be added for $250 each.
If you list your loved-ones in Congregation Emanu-El’s Yom Kippur Memorial Book, a Permanent Memorial ensures that the names of up to six loved-ones will be listed in perpetuity, for a onetime contribution of $1,800. Additional names can be added for $250 each.
The closing date for inclusion of names in the 2009 Memorial Book is August 21, 2009.

Bequests and Estates
Time and time again we learn that we should not put off until tomorrow that which we dread doing today. We often hear about squabbles that arise because someone has died intestate
(without a will) and neglected to provide for loved ones and valued charities.
Regardless of the size of your estate, it is important to have a properly executed plan to ensure that you, and not the courts, determine who will receive your property upon your death. When you create a will or living trust with a qualified advisor, an attorney, an accountant and/or a financial planner, you ensure that your intentions are carried out. You also ensure that the needs of people and organizations most important to you will be met.
We hope that Congregation Emanu-El is included in your estate plan. To help simplify the process, we suggest the following sample provisions will be helpful to you and your advisor:
“I bequeath to Congregation Emanu-El, Two Lake Street, San Francisco, California, 94118, the sum of ____________($) dollars [or ________% of] [or describe the real or personal property] for its general charitable, religious, and educational purposes.”
Thank you.
