2010 Annual Giving Campaign

Dollars from the Annual Giving Campaign are essential to Emanu- El, especially during these challenging economic times. They help us bridge the gap between the Temple's actual operating costs, and revenue we receive from dues and other fees. Thank you again to all our supporters!

Online Donations are Quick, Easy and Secure!

Sponsor an Oneg or Kiddush on Shabbat

Sponsoring a Friday night oneg or Saturday morning Kiddush is a lovely way to honor someone you love, or to complete your plans for an upcoming simcha at the Temple. Choose from four different oneg menus, ranging from $200 to $540, or eight Kiddush menus, starting at $750. As a sponsor, your name and dedication are read from the bima, and you help us celebrate Shabbat with the warmth and community that are characteristic of our congregation.

For more details please contact Svetlana Leykin at sleykin@emanuelsf.org or (415) 751-2541 x123.

Estate Planning at Emanu-El

Including Congregation Emanu-El in your estate planning is a valuable affirmation of our synagogue’s mission, helping to ensure that our programs and services can be carried out for future generations. Please contact Cathy Lewis in the Development Office at (415) 750-7554 or clewis@emanuelsf.org if you have made a provision for Emanu-El in your will, or if you would like more information about doing so. With your permission, Legacy Circle members will be acknowledged in our Donor Reports, and invited to special events throughout the year.

Planning For Your Temple’s Future

This fall, the Temple will be beginning a Strategic Planning Process to help identify key goals and initiatives for the decade ahead, and we will be looking for your input throughout the process. This project is a continuation of a process that the Board and staff have been engaged in for some time.

Several years ago, a congregant led an informal brainstorming project about the future of the Temple. This process involved focus groups and interviews with several dozen congregants about what they thought our Temple might aspire to be in the year 2020. Their comments and conclusions were used as a starting point for a very productive discussion about long-term strategy at a Board retreat.

This year, a generous donor made a gift to fund a broad information gathering effort in which over a quarter of the congregation offered their insights about the core values and perceived identity of the Temple.

Following the High Holy Days this fall, we plan to build on these efforts by involving the entire congregation in a process that will result in a formal strategic plan for the Temple’s future. Led by Board member Rebecca Macieira-Kaufmann, we anticipate a series of community meetings, small group dialogue and lots of congregational engagement in helping define a vision for the years ahead. The specific committee structure and timetable are still a work in progress, but we anticipate this project to last much of the Temple year 2010-2011. Watch the Chronicle and your e-mail for updates about this effort.
