Tauber Yesod
The Two-Year Core Program 2010-11
Yesod (which means “foundation”) is the centerpiece of the Tauber program. This two year curriculum is designed to impart knowledge of the central Jewish texts, thinkers, and ideas.
Each trimester consists of 8-sessions. Classes are in English, taught in an interactive style by Bay Area scholars. Combining lectures with hevruta (traditional partner study), Yesod creates a true community of learners.

The Basics of Hebrew Grammar (for Lazy People)
June 30, July 28,
August 25
7:00 – 8:30 PM
We will review the essential rubrics of Hebrew grammar and translation – from how to use a Hebrew dictionary to how to figure out binyanim (conjugations) and roots. Each session is stand-alone, so, if you can only come to one or two, we’d still love to have you.

How to Read Hebrew
July 7, 21; August 4, 18
7:00 – 8:30 PM
For people who literally don’t know an aleph from a beit (and are even a bit weak on English!) Each session we’ll learn a few new letters and vowels and, by the last session, you’ll be able to address the Israeli Kenesset in Hebrew and read the Babylonian Talmud – very, very, slowly. You can do this!
