The Anshei Mitzvah program has been in
session for over 20 years, and offers an
opportunity for adults who never officially
became Bar or Bat Mitzvah to finally experience this milestone
event. This is accomplished through the study of basic Hebrew
reading, Shabbat prayers, and Torah and Haftarah texts. Our
Rabbis also contribute to the course of study throughout the year.
The ceremony takes place in the spring at a Shabbat morning
service. Participants in the course lead prayer, read Torah,
instruct the congregation in the meaning and relevance of the
biblical portions, and share words of inspiration. More than 150
adults have taken part in this program and it is one of the most
successful of Emanu-El's adult education offerings.
The Anshei Mitzvah weekly classes begin Sunday, October 11, 2009, 9:30am
Anshei Mitzvah ceremonies will take place on either of these dates (or all of them): May 8, May 15 or June 19.
