We recognize that our 11th Grade Confirmation Class is, at
Confirmation, a year away from leaving home. Therefore, to prepare
for adult Jewish life, we journey through the jewish life cycle.
11th Grade meets once a week, 2-3 Sundays a month. Some of the class sessions include outside field trips.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS FOR 11th & 12th GRADES
THE NEXT CHAPTER
This joint venture between Congregation Emanu-El and Jewish Family and Children's Services brings teens and Bay Area Holocaust survivors together. Primarily designed for students in grades 11 and 12, each teen is paired with an individual survivor. Teens will interview their survivor, documenting their oral history in a written piece. This project bridges the generations, creates friendships, and enables teens to develop a profound personal connection to the Shoah.
THE MARCH OF THE LIVING AND SHALHEVET
Students in grades 11 and 12 are encouraged to participate in one of these community teen trips to Poland and Israel in the Spring. The March of the Living is an international, educational program that brings Jewish teens from all over the world to Poland on Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Memorial Day, to march from Auschwitz to Birkenau, the largest concentration camp complex built during World War II, and then to Israel to observe Yom HaZikaron, Israel Memorial Day, and Yom Ha'Atzma'ut, Israel Independence Day.
Shalhevet is a once-in-a-lifetime experiential learning opportunity for Bay Area Jewish High School students, modeled after the March of the
Living. This program is tailored to the educational and cultural environment of the Bay Area and travels on alternative dates to allow students to
take their Advanced Placement Exams.
