WEEKDAY TORAH - GRADE 5
Weekday Torah for grade 5 consists of three content areas.
Shalom Ivrit
This unit provides students with extensive reading practice while learning contemporary Hebrew. It introduces students to common expressions and basic grammar found in modern Hebrew and
guides them in applying this knowledge to the prayers we recite and study each week.
T'fillah Alef
This unit introduces students to some of our most basic prayers: the Barchu, Sh'ma, Mi Camocha, Sim Shalom, Shalom Rav, and Oseh Shalom. In addition to reading these prayers, students learn to
identify key Jewish concepts, root words expressed in these prayers, and explore the meaning of the prayers in their lives.
Shabbat/Havdallah
In this unit, students explore rituals, history, and traditions of Shabbat. It is both a Hebrew reading
course and an opportunity for students to explore the relevancy of Shabbat in their own lives and the life of the Jewish family.
