WHAT: An 18-mile, 100 kilometer (60 mile) bicycle ride (you choose) OR 9-mile or 18-mile run
WHEN: Sunday, August 30
WHERE: Leave from Temple Emanu-El and ride through the Presidio to Marin and back (9 and 18 mile route will stay in San Francisco).
Congregants will be challenged to keep up with Rabbis Mintz and Bauer as they bicycle 100 kilometers. Each adult participant can raise any amount of money in donations, which will fund the congregation's programs in the areas of worship, education, community and social justice. Join Rabbis Mintz and Bauer for an inspirational start to the ride and enjoy their company along the way. A great activity for a family, havurah, young and old alike!
GEAR UP FOR EMANU-EL'S CENTURY RIDE
Join the Temple’s Young Adult Community Leaders, Alec Dinner and Susie Berg, for official Emanu-El Century training rides leaving from the Temple every Wednesday morning at 7:00 AM – 8:30 AM and every 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month leaving at 8:00 AM. The Wednesday rides will be 15 – 20 miles in length and the Sunday rides will be 40 miles or longer. You can always turn around early to make the ride any length you feel comfortable with. Please come dressed appropriately for the day’s weather and bring water, food, and your helmet. Feel free to contact Alec Dinner at 415-717-8858 / alecdinner@gmail.com with any questions.

Since 1849, Emanu-El has had a long history of social justice initiatives in the San Francisco community from the 1906 Earthquake to marching for Civil Rights in the 1960s to raising an AIDS relief fund in the 1980s to providing thousands of member volunteers to feed the hungry in San Francisco.
Now in 2009 Congregation Emanu-El is raising money through its first ever century bike ride and run to continue our efforts to serve those in need.
The Bike Ride will be either 18miles or 100kilometeres (60mi). If you do not bike please join us for the 9 or 18 mile run.
The donation page will ask you to "register". This is to ensure that your gift is properly recorded. It will not register you for the bike ride.
ROUTES
Metric Century Ride (100-kilometers = 63 miles)
This moderate route will take us as far north of San Francisco as Fairfax by way of the GG Bridge, Sausalito, Mill Valley, Larkspur, San Anselmo and Ross. On the return we will turn east at Larkspur to ride into Corte Madera and then around to Tiburon via Paradise Drive. Once through Tiburon we will circle east back to Paradise Drive at Trestle Glen for a second loop through Tiburon and then back to the city through Mill Valley and Sausalito.

Chai Ride/Run (9-mile run or 18-mile ride / run)
This jaunt will take us south on Arguello to Cabrillo where we’ll turn west and ride/run out to Ocean Beach. Once we hit the beach the route will turn left and continue south toward Sloat and on down for a loop around Lake Merced. Once around the lake the 18 mile ride/run will retrace itself north into GG Park and back to the Temple. The 9-mile run route will turn around before Sloat.

The Museum Committee invites you to join the artist for a very special guided tour.
Guest speaker will be his son, San Francisco Chronicle reporter, Seth Rosenfeld.
The exhibition can be viewed through August 29, but can be seen through the eyes of its creator only once, on July 15.
