The Janaki String Trio, winner of the 2006 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, is the first ensemble of this type to capture

New York Times as "magnificently polished" and exhibiting "an irresistible electricity." Taking its name from the Sanskrit word Janaki
(YAHN-uh-kye), which symbolizes self-realization, and playing on period instruments, the Trio explores not only standard works, but rarely
heard masterworks and provocative new pieces. Come welcome violist Katie Kadarauch, the San Francisco Symphony's newest member!

Temple Emanu-El concerts are made possible by the generosity of: The Ludwig Altman Organ Fund; Drs. Ben and A. Jess Shenson Music Endowment Fund; Jean G. Hartman Music Endowment Fund; Herzstein Family Fund for Music & Art

MUSIC AT MEYER
This fund, which began in 1993, is the beneficiary of Drs. Ben and A. Jess Shenson, beloved local philanthropists who have supported art, music, science and other civic projects for many years.
In 1993, the fund helped put on concerts by the Moscow Synagogue Men's Choir and the Japanese Shinonome Chorus, a Christian group from Japan who sings in Hebrew. The fund sponsored a concert to dedicate the new Schoenstein Organ Console in April of 1994.
1995 marked the passing of Dr. Ben Shenson, and in 1996 a musical tribute to him featured a host of soloists and instrumentalists. 1997, the Alexander String Quartet, the San Francisco Boys Chorus, baritone John Autry, pianist Marc Shapiro, and piano student Howard Nga performed, as well as oboist Roger Wiesmeyer and Cantor Roslyn Barak . A conversation with Michael Tilson Thomas and violinist Isaac Stern delighted our audience in 2000, and the offering in 2001 was a real treat: The Final round of the Classical Philharmonic Orchestra Concerto Competition .
