BOOK BUDDIES
BOOK BUDDIES PROGRAM SUCCESSFUL IN SAN FRANCISCO SCHOOLS
Seeking to recruit old and new Book Buddies 2009-2010! We seek adults who are concerned about the quality of public education in San Francisco, are troubled by the number of indigent students who have few or no books in their homes and are bothered by the lack of support teachers are provided. The Book Buddies Program addresses all of these issues with a simple premise: we will provide books for students in public schools that do not provide them adequately.
Program Description
* Adult Book Buddies will donate $40 and are paired with a student in a San Francisco school.
* Donation is used by pre-screened teachers, who participate in the Program to purchase appropriate books for the students to read in class and to keep for their home library.
* Adult Book Buddies write to the students four times each year and can except to receive four letters from their book buddy.
* In January and May, Book Buddies sponsors get-togethers for the Book Buddies meet. Please visit website for specific dates. http://www.emanuelsf.org/events_gi_bookbuddies.htm
