PE'AH GARDEN

is now closed for the winter and is taking a sabbatical year (2010) to let the soil rest. Stay tuned for plans in 2011!

Mission: By growing food for those in need at our cemetery in Colma, Congregation Emanu-El members perform the mitzvah of feeding the hungry. Our garden name, Pe'ah (corners), derives from Leviticus 19, which commands us to not harvest the corners of the field but to leave them for the poor and the stranger. Help us feed the hungry and enjoy the beautiful outdoors at the same time. Our harvest is donated to the San Francisco Food Bank.

If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Sandy Rechtschaffen, Social Justice Coordinator, at sandyr@emanuelsf.org or leave a message at (415) 751-2541 x 177.

PE'AH GARDEN!
Plant the Seeds of Kindness as You Grow a Community!

Congregation Emanu-El sponsors a volunteer-run garden at our Home of Peace Cemetery in Colma, since 1995, which benefits the San Francisco Food Bank. The Garden's motto is "Take a day on, not a day off". Everyone who comes to help is welcomed, and each person's contribution makes a difference. This year we are fortunate to have each Sunday staffed by an Emanu-El volunteer with gardening experience!

Please join us for this unique morning mitzvah! All ages are welcome!
