Want to help open up the world for a child?
Want to make a difference in a young
person's life?
Learning to read opens the door to the world, and that's why we are proud to announce our onging partnership with the Bay Area Jewish Coalition for Literacy
JCL), a local affiliate of the National JCL. Since its launch in 1997 by Leonard Fein founder of Moment Magazine and MAZON: A Jewish Response to
Hunger, more than 50 communities have affiliated with the NJCL, whose goal is to mobilize volunteers to help at-risk elementary school children learn to
read. The Bay Area JCL currently has more than 600 tutors working with 1,500 students in local schools. Many volunteer opportunities will be created through
this exciting partnership, ranging from tutoring one-on-one, to reading to classes, to participating in school supply and book drives. Details to follow!
