The Boomers+ Bunch is a congenial group that gets together monthly on Thursday mornings for interesting programs of enlightening speakers or outings. Anyone free on Thursday mornings is welcome to enjoy eclectic topics and destinations with new and old friends.

Birds of the Presidio: Guided Hike

NEW Crissy Field Center, 1199 East Beach, right inside the Marina Gate off the Marina Boulevard entrance to The Presidio.

The Presidio of San Francisco has one of the most diverse bird populations of any urban park in the world, with over 200 species having been spotted here. This diversity is due to its great variety of habitats - open water, protected bay, rocky and sandy shoreline, tidal marshes, coastal scrub, grasslands, mixed woodlands and ornamental areas. Since the Presidio lies on a major bird migratory route along the West Coast, it also hosts a variety of transient birds that stop over to rest and feed on their journey to and from places as far away as South America and the Canadian arctic. This combination of factors makes the Presidio a birders’ paradise.

This will be a private walk especially for our group. The round trip distance is approximately 1½ miles of flat terrain. Binoculars will definitely enhance your enjoyment and a bird book won’t hurt either. Dress in layers in case of fog. Compare sightings at a no-host lunch in the Presidio National park following the hike. Register by Sep 20
