The Emanu-El Live Poets Society
Sunday, October 18, 10:00 -11:30 am, Rinder Chapel
Join Emanu-El Poets for an Inspiring Morning of Poetry and Conversation! Nineteenth-century Hebrew writer and poet Y.L. Gordon was once asked by a contemporary literary critic: “What do you do?” Gordon replied: “I am a Hebrew poet.” Without missing a beat, the critic cynically asked: “And when did you live?”
To many, poetry seems arcane, unfathomable, and esoteric— something of a different age. Nevertheless, poetry has always spoken to small groups of people who believe that poetry is to words what a painting is to art.
Congregation Emanu-El is home to a small and distinguished group of poets who have transformed the written word into poignant and inspired creations. Please join us for a Sunday morning of poetry reading and conversation as these poets gather together to present their works and engage the audience in discussion and love of poetry.
