QIs membership expensive?
ANo. Temple Emanu-El views the young adult community as an essential community for the Temple's future. Therefore, we have developed special membership commitment requirements for young adults. The amount of the first year's commitment is voluntary, as are the commitment for any member under 30. After the first year or turning 30, the Temple does suggest an annual commitment amount, but no one will be denied membership for financial reasons.

QI know that Emanu-El is a Reform congregation. Are those affiliated with other denominations welcome?
AYes. A past survey showed that a significant percentage of attend the young adult's Late Shabbat are Conservative, Reconstructionist, or not affiliated at all. All those who want to practice a progressive, spiritual Judaism with other young adults are welcome.

QI want to learn more about Judaism. How ?
ACongregation Emanu-El offers " The Course," a yearlong course that explores Jewish history, holidays, theology, and culture. The course designed for Jews who want to know more about their heritage, non-Jews, interfaith couples, and people interested in converting to Judaism. Other courses are offered through Emanu-El, such as "The Tauber Jewish Studies Program," or through Living Room Book Seminars, which offers a world of Jewish learning opportunitites. We also offer an immensely popular Anshei Mitzvah program, which offeres an opportunity for adults who never had the experience of Bar or Bat Mitzvah to finally do so.

QWhat is Temple Emanu-El's view on dietary restrictions?
AWe do not allow pork or shellfish to be served in our building, and we do not serve mixed meat and milk on the same plate.

QWill a rabbi at Temple Emanu-El officiate at an interfaith wedding?
AYes, all Emanu-El clergy will officiate at interfaith weddings, under certain conditions.

QWhat is Emanu-El's view on homosexuality?
AEmanu-El welcomes all Jews as equals, regardless of sexual orientation.
