As the current San Francisco Planning Commissioner, Sue Diamond has led a career dedicated to service in the Jewish community and greater San Francisco community. Sue formed her own law firm advising nonprofits on real estate issues, representing clients such as the Jewish Home, Family House and Camp Ramah. Sue was not only a former partner at the Brobeck and Morgan Lewis law firms, but also utilized her extensive knowledge to teach Land Use Law at Stanford Law School from 2006-14 and previously taught at U.C. Berkeley and U.S.C.
Sue is a dedicated member to the communities in which she participates. She was a past Board Member of the JCC Association of North America, Mercy Housing California, University High School, and the board chair at JCCSF and Marin Academy. An exemplar leader on the Jewish Community Federation’s Board, she served in various leadership roles, including the VP of Outreach and Engagement, Vice Chair of Capital Planning, Executive Community member and the Super Sunday Co-Chair. Sue is an alumna of both the Wexner Heritage and Federation Women in Leadership programs. Sue’s husband, Marty Schenker, is a litigation partner at the Cooley law firm. Together they have three adult children and have held a family membership since 1998.
President of JMP Securities, Mark Lehmann has a long history of service at Congregation Emanu-El. He previously served as a Board Member from 2009-2018. Mark currently serves on the Audit and HR Committees. Previously, he served on various Emanu-El task forces, including the Cantor’s Search Task Force, the Executive Director Search Committee and the Annual Giving Subcommittee. In addition, he is a member of Emanu-El’s Legacy Circle. Mark also serves on the Board of the San Francisco Chapter of Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation and is the 2020 Champion of Hope for the organization.
Mark’s wife, Kerri Lehmann, is the Vice President and an instrumental leader on the Board of Jewish Family and Children Services. Together they Co-Chaired JFCS’s Fammy Awards Gala this year, have held a family membership at Emanu-El since 2000 and have three young adult children who all became B’nei Mitzvah at Emanu-El.
Dr. Larry Rand
Currently the Director of Perinatal Service at the UCSF Fetal Treatment Center, Dr. Larry Rand specializes in high-risk pregnancy and maternal-fetal medicine. He holds leadership positions at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and was separately nominated for a Young Investigator Excellence in Research Award in 2009. Dr. Larry Rand travels to West Africa and Central America several times a year to perform surgery and treat high-risk obstetrics patients with limited access to care, while working to help create sustainable health programs in these countries. Dr. Rand’s partner, Dr. Jonathan Fuchs, is with the San Francisco Department of Public Health, and they have held a family membership since 2012.
From 1977-1986 Bob practiced law in San Francisco, joined his wife, Valli Benesch’s family business, Fritzi California in 1986, became its Co-Chief Executive Officer in 1994 and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Fritzi Realty in 1998. Today, Bob and Valli, manage Fritzi Realty and Tehama Partners, LLC. a West Coast-based real estate investment and management family business.
Bob has been active in the San Francisco and Jewish nonprofit communities, including board memberships with San Francisco General Hospital Foundation, SPUR, SF Chamber of Commerce, SF Maritime Museum, SF Historical Society, American Conservatory Theater, Contemporary Jewish Museum, American Jewish Committee, Merola Opera Program, Jewish Community Federation, Jewish Family and Children’s Services, American Israeli Political Affairs Committee, SF Jewish Community Center, SF Hillel, Berkeley Hillel, Night Train Swimmers and Chairs the SF-Haifa Sister City Committee.
Bob is a fan of opera, modern art, an avid hiker, daily San Francisco Bay swimmer and triathlete.
Bob and his wife, Valli, have been married for 36 years and have worked together for 34 years. They live in San Francisco and have two daughters, 34 and 31. They are passionate about parenting, San Francisco, Judaism, the outdoors (hiking and open-water swimming), art, theater, ballet, opera and travel.
