End of Life Planning: Be Prepared with Sinai Memorial Chapel
Jul 20 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

End of Life Planning: How to be prepared with Sinai Memorial Chapel

with Rabbi Ryan Bauer

Join us for this special program with Sinai Memorial Chapel and our own Rabbi Ryan Bauer.

During the pandemic, it has come to our attention that more and more people are having anxiety about their finitude. At Sinai Memorial chapel, they are able to give people greater peace of mind by helping them understand how they can make advance plans for their end of life, both for a funeral and a final resting place. As a non-profit Sinai is offering a service to its members as well as gives back to the greater community at large. For this event, together we will discuss:

Why plan in advance?

What in our Jewish tradition encourages advance planning?

Who is Sinai and what do we do?

What are the core things to think about when making an advance plan?

What are the steps to proceed

If you are not able to attend this event, or just interested in learning more, please fill out this form. You can also reach out to Cara Walden, Sinai's advance planning funeral counselor, at (415)921-3636 or [email protected].

Jews Of Color Gathering (July 2021)
Jul 21 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Led by congregants who identify as Jews of Color, we are convening regular gatherings of Emanu-El members who identify as Jews of Color of any race or ethnicity, to meet each other, share stories, and explore the needs and hopes of our community. The intention is to create a safe space to share thoughts and engage in conversation. We acknowledge that while this need has always existed, it has been magnified recently within our Jewish community and in the broader society at large. Emanu-El is committed to ensuring safety, equity, and justice within our community and in the wider Jewish community.

The July JoC gathering will be led by Helen Wen.

These gatherings are hosted by congregant Kristin Eriko Posner and board member Paula Pretlow.
