Mishpachot Emanu-El Babies: Mondays 5/15-6/5

Our Mishpachot Emanu-El program for Babies introduces our youngest children (0-16 months) to a preschool environment with their parent(s) by their side. Our weekly meetings will be guided by esteemed early childhood educator, Emma Kelly, who will lead intentional discussions about our children, our hopes, and our concerns, share learning opportunities, and answer any questions you have about your child’s development.  

 

Each session will include nosh, music with renowned Jonathan Bayer, and ample time for children and parents to connect and explore. Our goal is to make lasting connections, build a sense of community and allow the space for our children to explore and play. 

Kehillah (Community)

The creation of a local community in early childhood becomes the supportive, positive, uplifting foundation of a child's life. It helps them to learn about themselves. It helps them learn how to tackle challenges, build knowledge, and thrive.

One session per week for 3 weeks (4 sessions total)

Mondays

5/15, 5/22, NO CLASS 5/29, and 6/5

Member price: $45

Non-Member Price: $60

Drop-in price:

$15 per session for members

$20 per session for non-members

**The cost is per child. PLEASE ONLY REGISTER YOUR CHILD (no need to register yourself).

Each child must be accompanied by a parent.

Mishpachot Emanu-El Toddlers: Wednesdays 5/17-6/7

Our Mishpachot Emanu-El program for Toddlers introduces some of our youngest children to a preschool environment with their parent(s) by their side. Our weekly meetups will include music, nosh and chat, and a guided project by esteemed early childhood educator, Emma Kelly. Our goal with this practice is to help children get ready for preschool and allow an opportunity for an early childhood expert to model quality care and education through an inquiry lens! There is also the opportunity to ask us any questions you have about your child’s development, support strategies, or any other burning questions that might come up!

Tikkun Le’l Shavuot

Tikkun Le'l Shavuot – An Evening Wrestling with God in celebration of receiving the Torah

Congregations Emanu-El and Sherith Israel are joining together for Tikkun Le'l Shavuot – a traditional evening of Torah study celebrating the revelation of the Torah to Moses and the Jewish people at Mount Sinai. 

Clergy members of both synagogues will share texts and perspectives on the theme Wrestling with God. 

We will also conclude with beautiful music, meditations, and sweet treats to enjoy! This year it will be hosted at Emanu-El and next year at Sherith Israel. Join us for an engaging night of learning and celebrating the Torah!

Shabbat Service (5/26/23)

Join us for In-Person Shabbat Services this Friday, May 26th at 6:00 pm!

Led by Rabbi Sarah Joselow Parris with Cantor Arik Luck.

To best ensure we can provide a safe and sacred experience, please note the following: 

  • Advance registration is required. If for any reason you are not able to register in advance, you are still welcome to attend, and we will take care of registration at the gate.
  • Full vaccination status is required for those eligible when participating in our programs (including booster for those eligible). Consistent with city, state, CDC and other public health authority guidance, COVID-19 vaccines are the most important and effective tool in preventing COVID-19 disease, especially severe illness and death.
  • Masking is optional at all services and events taking place inside Emanu-El or for outdoor events, including in the courtyard.
  • For those ineligible for vaccination, testing is required within 24 hours of the event (rapid antigen or PCR).
  • Although masks are not required, we understand that many people will continue to mask for a variety of reasons. We fully support those who choose to mask and invite all in our community to act in a spirit of non-judgmental kindness as we navigate this landscape together.
  • Please review our COVID-19 on-site event protocols.
  • We, along with our COVID-19 Advisory Team, will continue to monitor case rates in San Francisco and other important factors and respond to the changing circumstances accordingly.
  • Our services will continue to be held virtually on our Livestream page and Facebook Live.

Torah Study

A Special L’hitraot Tot Shabbat – (6/2/23)

A Very Special Tot Shabbat!

Not goodbye, just see you soon! This will be a commemorative Shabbat service and celebration, as it is our last in our beloved building during construction. We will nosh delicious cupcakes, spend time together and celebrate with fun activities! This is not the end of Tot Shabbat! We will be back in August in a new location!

Join us in Martin Meyer Reception at 5:00 pm to connect with fellow families while children nosh. Followed by a joyful and engaging 30-minute service in Martin Meyer Sanctuary from 5:30 – 6:00 pm. 

PJs highly encouraged!

No membership required! ALL kids 6 and under, their adults and older siblings are welcome, free of charge. 

*Registration required, preferably in advance but, if unable to register, please come and we will take your information at the gate.*

Join us for In-Person Shabbat Services this Friday, June 2nd at 6:00 pm!

Led by Rabbis Beth Singer and Ryan Bauer with Cantors Arik Luck and Marsha Attie. They will be joined by our newly ordained Emanu-El Rabbi Educator, Rabbi Leo Fuchs. Rabbi Fuchs will speak about his journey to the rabbinate, and he will receive a special blessing from our clergy.
