Calendar
Men of Congregation Emanu-El have a monthly opportunity to socialize and study with a member of the clergy at a private home. This cross-generational group provides a small group experience so important to building community. This month, on May 15, you'll have the opportunity to learn with Senior Rabbi Jonathan Singer at the Synagogue in our beautiful Martin Meyer Reception area. There will be no food, but lots of learning!
If you have any questions please contact Rebecca Reiner at [email protected] or (415) 751-2541 x170.
Men’s Group events are congregant only and require registration.
Tikun Le’il Shavuot – A Night of Learning
In Celebration of the Giving of Torah
Sunday, March 16th
Join us on Sunday evening, May 16, for a Short Shavuot service, led by Rabbi Jason Rodich and Cantor Marsha Attie, followed by a night of learning in honor of Shavuot. There is a custom of staying up as long as possible studying Jewish texts just as ancestors stood at Sinai and received it. Our clergy team will be offering classes after the service in celebration of the ongoing giving and receiving of Torah.
The service will livestream on our website and on the Emanu-El Facebook page.
(Led by Cantor Marsha Attie)
In this session we will explore the origins and the language of Tikkun Le’il Shavuot. We will seek to understand the Jewish spiritual calendar at this time of the year as well as having some fun with the Hebrew of the day.

(Led by Rabbi Jason Rodich)
Rabbi Rodich will explore ways that three Jewish paradigms (rabbinic innovation, faith in God, and sacred order) can help us cope with and respond to life’s surprises.

(Led by Rabbi Beth Singer)
You know it is one of the Top 10 Commandments, but why is it sometimes easy and other times a challenge, and occasionally downright impossible to honor your father and mother? We will study some commentaries on this commandment and talk about the joys and oys of our relationship with our parents, whether they are still living or not.
