The High Holy Days are a time where we open ourselves up and look deep inside our souls to examine who we have been and who we want to be. We confront who we are and what we can change, as well as what we cannot control.
Join Rabbi Ryan Bauer and your fellow Tribesmen (male-identifying only) for this morning of spiritual exploration and preparation. We will meet at Baker Beach for a short meditation followed by our mikvah in the ocean at dawn! Bring warm clothes, a towel and an appetite for a nosh afterwards!
To best ensure we can provide a safe and sacred experience, please note the following:
- Capacity is limited; advance registration is required.
- Please review our COVID-19 off-site event protocols, so you’ll know what to expect and how to prepare.
Rosh Hashanah is a time of reflection, return and new beginnings. Please join us for our beautiful annual ritual of mikvah including meditation, chanting and immersion in the incredible Pacific Ocean at Baker Beach. Please bring warm clothes, a towel and an open heart. Our 8:30 am mikvah is for female-identified community members.

ARK MOMENTS
Sunday, September 18 from 1:00 – 2:30 pm.
Open House style.
We invite all member households to join us for a special way of coming together in our sanctuary.
Our rabbis will be available to greet you in the courtyard, offer you a new year blessing, and send you into the sanctuary with suggestions for how to have a meaningful moment in our sacred space. We would love to offer your family wishes for a sweet new year and an opportunity for all congregants to spend a moment in our sacred space.
In preparation for our communal return, we invite you to have a personal return to our sanctuary.
This has proven to be a very meaningful offering in the month of Elul.

For the month of Elul we are using a special prayerbook.
To best ensure we can provide a safe and sacred experience, please note the following:
- Advance registration is required. If for any reason you are not able to register in advance, you are still welcome to attend and we will take care of registration at the gate.
- Full vaccination status is required for those eligible when participating in our programs (including booster for those eligible). Consistent with city, state, CDC and other public health authority guidance, COVID-19 vaccines are the most important and effective tool in preventing COVID-19 disease, especially severe illness and death.
- Masking is optional at all services and events taking place inside Emanu-El or for outdoor events, including in the courtyard
- For those ineligible for vaccination, testing is required within 24 hours of the event (rapid antigen or PCR).
- Although masks are not required, we understand that many people will continue to mask for a variety of reasons. We fully support those who choose to mask and invite all in our community to act in a spirit of non-judgmental kindness as we navigate this landscape together.
- Please review our COVID-19 on-site event protocols.
- We, along with our COVID-19 Advisory Team, will continue to monitor case rates in San Francisco and other important factors and respond to the changing circumstances accordingly.
- Our services will continue to be held virtually, on our Livestream page and Facebook Live.
