Join us for the Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, November 6th from 12:15 pm – 1:45 pm.
Gather in the Emanu-El Courtyard with your furry or fluffy friends! Your dogs and cats, as well as your feathered friends and those with fins or shells, are invited to be blessed!
The blessing of the animals is popular in many religions, so make sure you don’t miss this opportunity to pal around with your fur babies.
Afterwards, walk to the Mountain Lake Dog Park in the Presidio with other animal-loving folks.
12:15 – 12:45 pm: Emanu-El Courtyard
12:45 – 1:45 pm: Walk to Mountain Lake Park Dog Play Area (Lake St. & 8th Ave.) and watch the dogs romp!
Please bring your own animal treats and people snacks!
We look forward to seeing you & your pals then!
Please register.
Join Rabbi Jonathan for our first Marin Gathering as we discuss a topic of recent note and meet at Book Passage Bookstore & Cafe (51 Tamal Vista Boulevard, Corte Madera) from 4:30 – 5:45 pm on Thursday, November 10th.
This month Rabbi Jonathan will engage in a discussion of the Yom Kippur sermons that focused on what Judaism considers concerning what happens after we die. We will look at texts, share, and if you purchase from the booth, have some snacks.
Hope you can join us!

Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom. —Psalms 90:12
Jewish tradition views old age as virtue and a blessing. The Hebrew term zakein—"old" has always been synonymous with "wise.” However, much has changed in the modern era populated by septuagenarians, octogenarians, and nonagenarians, resulting in paradox of aging in which everyone wants to live longer but at the same time everyone also wants to stay young.
In ages past, few people lived to be old, but with the aid of modern medicine and better nutrition, a global shift in demographics presents the new challenge of people working longer and living longer. How healthy elders remain integrated into the community without feeling isolated and undervalued is a front and center concern.
This class will explore the Jewish attitude toward aging and the lessons from the Jewish tradition that offer valuable and practical insights that foster the adding of life to years.
