An Interfaith Gathering against Hate: Love Your Neighbor as Yourself!
In collaboration with our partners at the Jewish Community Relations Council, the San Francisco Interfaith Council, the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco and the Jewish Community Federation & Endowment Fund, we are planning a Friday night special service in response to the gathering of hate groups on Saturday, August 26th at Crissy field. This is not a reaction or confrontation, but a response of love, community, and diversity. We invite all our members, along with the entire San Francisco Jewish and interfaith community, to join us for a very special interfaith Shabbat service in the Emanu-El Main Sanctuary on Friday, August 25th* at 6:30 pm. A pre-Oneg will commence at 5:30 pm with hors d’oeuvres & refreshments.
Safety is one of Emanu-El’s core obligations to the community. In light of the upcoming white supremacist groups rally, we are taking extra measures to ensure your safety. We have been consulting with our local police, the National Park Service, and other Jewish groups such as the JCRC to plan security and coordinate efforts. We will be in contact with these groups throughout the weekend. Based on the guidance from these agencies and our security team, we are providing enhanced security as long as necessary, including:
· Addition of extra security personnel throughout the building
· Additional security officers at the Main Entry Gate
· Police coverage
· Limiting any public tours and other non-member entrance
In these challenging times, the community’s security is always on our minds.
