From Your Family Kitchen
Matzah Balls, kugel, brisket, and other foods instantly transport us to our families’ kitchens. These foods can be nostalgic and comforting and conjure happy memories from throughout our lives. We invite you to join the adult women of Congregation Emanu-El on May 2 at 6:30 PM for some nosh and a cook-off inspired by the dishes we love from our own family kitchens. We want you to prepare your best kugel, finest chicken soup and matzah balls, or sweetest Shabbat challah. Choose to formally enter the cook-off in one of the three categories, or bring a different memorable dish from your childhood to share in a potluck dinner celebration. We’ll invite everyone to savor the delicious recipes, vote on their favorites, and share stories of our favorite food memories.
We ask that you contribute to the potluck dinner or enter the cook-off. Want to share your recipe with the group? Email it to Rachel and she will circulate recipes after the program. Sign up for a cook-off category or potluck contribution here so we know what dishes to expect. Cook-off sign up closes on April 29.
As we prepare for this event and an evening together enjoying these foods, we encourage you to check out Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger. There are people here in our city and all over the world who don't have enough to eat. If you feel compelled, take action or think about what you can contribute to the work Mazon is doing to end hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds in the United States and Israel.
