Please join us as we welcome Dr. Dagmar Pruin at our One Shabbat service on July 12th. Dr. Pruin is a Protestant minister and founded Germany Close Up, a program that brings young adult Jews to Germany to encourage German-Jewish-North American dialogue as well as to strengthen the involvement of the North American Jewish community in transatlantic relations. Dr. Pruin will reflect on this important work and on German-Jewish relations.
More about Dr. Pruin
Dr. Dagmar Pruin is the Executive Director of Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste e.V. (Action Reconciliation Service for Peace) and Director of Germany Close Up, which she founded in the Fall of 2007. Dr. Pruin studied Theology and Jewish Studies at the Universities of Hamburg, the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Göttingen (MDiv equivalent 1997) and the Humboldt-University of Berlin, where she worked as a research and teaching fellow and earned her PhD in Hebrew Bible in 2003. Her academic career includes visiting fellowships at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa (2004) and at the AICGS-The Johns Hopkins University (2006). She is a founding member of the Program on Religion and Politics at the Humboldt University and has lectured extensively in Europe and the United States and is a Minister of the Protestant Church.
