November Jewish Book Club (Young Adult Program)
Join the Young Adult Community in a discussion of two pieces of work exploring the intersection of Black and Jewish identity:
(1) Afro-Brazilian Jewish Women: "Caught in the Crossfire" by Abby Gondek
(2) Bad for the Jews? a Vox Media Podcast from "The Weeds"
Abby Gondek is a Professor in the Department of Global & Sociocultural Studies at Florida International University. Her paper was featured at Thinking Gender- a public conference that highlights graduate student research on women, sexuality, and gender across the disciplines and historical periods. "The Weeds" is a Vox Media podcast that discusses policy, politics, and social issues in the U.S.
Thank you to two Young Adult Community members, Amanda Minsky and Nora Katz, for facilitating this book club discussion!
Wednesday, November 18 at 6pm.
This is a program of the Young Adult Community at Emanu-El (20s & 30s).
