Saudi Arabian Ambassador Reema and Ambassador Ross will discuss evolving Middle Eastern Alliances and prospects for peace in the region.
Her Royal Highness Ambassador Reema Bandar Al Saud is the Saudi Ambassador to the United States. She is the first woman in the country’s history to serve in the role of Ambassador. She is a leader in women’s rights and female empowerment and has worked to expand the opportunities for Saudi women within the kingdom, including the recently won right to drive and women’s participation in the Olympic games. Her Royal Highness Ambassador Reema Bandar Al Saud is the former CEO of Harvey Nichols in Riyadh, which led the inclusion of women in the retail marketplace as well as the first workplace nursey in Saudi Arabia. From 1983 to 2005, she lived in Washington, DC, while her father Prince Bandar served as Saudi Ambassador to the United States. She attended George Washington University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Museum Studies. Her Royal Highness Ambassador Reema Bandar Al Saud was also featured on the Forbes lists of the 200 Most Powerful Arab Women and Most Powerful Arab Women in Saudi Arabia lists for 2014
Ambassador Dennis Ross is a former Middle East peace negotiator and government official and a distinguished scholar. He has the unusual distinction of being a political appointee for two Republican and two Democratic presidents – Reagan and Bush 41 as well as Clinton and Obama. He also developed close relationships with five Israeli prime ministers: Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, Ehud Barak, Ariel Sharon and Benjamin Netanyahu. He was the special advisor to former Secretary of State Clinton. Few people know the history of Israel or its efforts on peace or its relations with the Arabs and the region better.
