Reckoning with Joy and Pain: Adam Mansbach
Reckoning with the Joys and Pain of Life: A conversation with author, Adam Mansbach
Thursday, May 6 at 7:00pm, virtually
“David has taken his own life.” These are the words Adam Mansbach heard his father say ten years ago.
In his new book, I Had a Brother Once, the New York Times bestselling author of ‘Go the F’ to Sleep,’ reckons with the loss of a brother; what loved ones are leaving us with, and with a search for closure that just wouldn't come.
Join us for a conversation about death and depression; joy and fun; the comfort of prayer and religious doubt, and how, in the end, it might all be connected.
Adam Mansbach is the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Go the F* to Sleep, the novels Rage is Back, Angry Black White Boy, and The End of the Jews, (winner of the California Book Award) and a dozen other books, most recently the bestselling A Field Guide to the Jewish People, co-written with Dave Barry and Alan Zweibel. Mansbach wrote the award-winning screenplay for the Netflix Original BARRY, and his next feature film, SUPER HIGH, starring Andy Samberg, Craig Robinson and Common, is forthcoming from New Line. His work has appeared in The New Yorker, New York Times Book Review, Esquire, The Believer, The Guardian, and on National Public Radio’s This American Life, The Moth, and All Things Considered. His memoir in verse, I Had A Brother Once, will be published by One World/Random House on April 13.
