Simchat Torah March, Consecration & Dinner October 11, 2017
Two Lake Street, San Francisco, CA
With klezmer music and candy tossed in the air, we will all meet at the Little Sisters of the Poor (at 300 Lake Street) beginning at 6:00 pm. We will march our new Czech Torah (on permanent loan to us by the Memorials Scrolls Trust and sponsored by our member Dr. Anita Barzman) down Lake Street all the way through our original 2 Lake street entrance. Then, at the foot of the Main Sanctuary, we will consecrate the Torah (one that survived the Holocaust), bless our new incoming students and give them their own little Torah scrolls. Then we will dance joyously in Guild Hall, with a special bar for adults as is Chasidic custom, as we do the seven hakafot (circles) and unfurl the entire scroll. We will have a live band, food, and then conclude and begin again the reading for this annual cycle. Dinner will be provided in the Guild Hall. We will serve pizza and beverages for children and adults. Please feel free to bring your own bottle of wine.
Your registration for the dinner is required. Registration will close on October 11.
