Women’s Seder – 2018
2 Lake Street
The biblical tale of slavery and redemption is replete with stories of magnificently courageous women playing key roles in the saving and liberation of the Jewish people—and crossing national boundaries as they do it! In this vein, we invite all the women of the Emanu-El community to participate in our annual Women’s Seder.
This year, we will deconstruct the seder with four questions. Why do we drink four cups of wine? What are the ten plagues? What is the bread of affliction? Today, how do we get to freedom? Over four cups of wine from our very own Northern California wine country, we hope to answer these questions through opportunities to learn, discuss, and celebrate together. The Jewish feminist journey is far from over—and women’s gatherings are an important part of that journey. With song, ritual, story and prayer, we join Jewish women all over the world who gather each Passover to name what is, and to dream of what is yet to be.
This evening will provide:
• Ideas to incorporate into your own seder
• Greater comfort in hosting and/or attending a seder
• Deeper relationships with fellow women of Emanu-El and our clergy
Cost: $18 per congregant (this fee covers the main dish, seder goodies, and wine) and a side dish or dessert to share.
After you register and pay, we ask that you click the link in your confirmation email to choose your contribution of a side dish or a dessert.
Registration closes on March 16.
