FACILITIES/HOSPITALITY WORKER
Congregation Emanu-El, a Reform Jewish synagogue with over 2,000 households, is looking for a full-time Facilities Team Member. The work schedule includes evenings and weekends.
As part of the seven-person Facilities Staff, the duties include cleaning, set-ups and tear downs in all rooms for programs, services, events and classes. This position reports to the Building Maintenance Manager who is part of the Operations Department. Liaison to Events Department and Community Engagement Department.
Job Summary
Internal support for department staff planning events for Congregants and guests. Set-up of tables and chairs, of audio-visual equipment, rooms for classes. Cleaning of bathrooms, kitchen, offices, classrooms, Sanctuaries and assembly areas, along with a janitorial staff. Other tasks as assigned.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. In this position, you will have direct access to members, visitors and guests. We are a highly effective customer service organization within a sacred space. It is essential that all staff interacts with our members, visitors and guests and does so in a warm friendly and supportive way.
Job Requirements
At least three years of experience working in a hospitality/facilities role. High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form, short correspondence and memos. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential as there is much interaction with the public and staff. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment background check prior to employment.
