SCHEDULE

35th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Pulpit Exchange & Tu B’Shevat Weekend

MLK Weekend: Friday – Sunday, January 14 – 16, 2022
via Livestream, No RSVP Required

Join us virtually Friday through Sunday, January 14 – 16, for a weekend of worship, sermons, music, and the opportunity to connect once again with Congregation Emanu-El and Third Baptist Church. Click here to jump to our Updated Weekend Schedule.

Virtual-Only Worship Services

In response to the rapidly growing spread of Omicron, we are suspending in-person worship for the MLK Pulpit Exchange at both Emanu-El and Third Baptist Church. Please do not come in-person to either Emanu-El or Third Baptist Church for services on MLK Weekend. However, please do join us online (livestream links are available in the weekend schedule). Updates to our COVID-19 safety protocols can be found by clicking here.

Our medical advisors have recommended this course with the hope that we will be able to gather again soon to welcome in Shabbat as a community. During this time, we hope you will join us online. We invite you to sing along at home with candles and kiddush and to enjoy learning with us utilizing the blessing of technology to keep us connected.

Update: Tzedakah Corner Programming

This year, our goal is to connect with meaningful services around the Bay Area, many of which are run by folks in the communities they serve. We focused on programs that highlight mutual aid, which is a solidarity-based support where communities unite against a common struggle. G’milut chasidim – acts of loving kindness. This Jewish value embodies what it means to take on the responsibility of caring for one another, rather than leaving individuals to fend for themselves. Now more than ever, this is an important mitzvah to help heal the world.

Tzedakah & tirdof are intrinsically linked to both Tu B’Shevat and Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy.

We have a drop-off donation tzedakah box and virtual tzedakah boxes available for folks who would like to contribute.

Drop-off Donations – Pantry Items

We will have a donation box set up at Congregation Emanu-El starting Friday, January 14. Please drop off items with the front gate.

Acceptable donations include food that is in its original packaging, unopened and unexpired. Tzedakah Box donations will benefit the SF-Marin Food Bank and Jewish Family & Children’s Services. We are accepting:

  • Healthy snacks
  • Canned protein
  • Non-meat protein (i.e.: peanut butter)
  • Shelf-stable fruit cups
  • Canned goods not requiring a can opener (for example, pop-top soups and entrees)
