Tzedakah Corner Programming
This year, our goal is to connect with meaningful services around the Bay Area, many of which are run by folks in the communities they serve. We focused on programs that highlight mutual aid, which is a solidarity-based support where communities unite against a common struggle. G’milut chasidim – acts of loving kindness. This Jewish value embodies what it means to take on the responsibility of caring for one another, rather than leaving individuals to fend for themselves. Now more than ever, this is an important mitzvah to help heal the world.
Tzedakah & tirdof are intrinsically linked to both Tu B’Shevat and Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy.
We have a drop-off donation tzedakah box and virtual tzedakah boxes available for folks who would like to contribute.
We will have a donation box set up at Congregation Emanu-El starting Friday, January 14. Please drop off items with the front gate.
Acceptable donations include food that is in its original packaging, unopened and unexpired. Tzedakah Box donations will benefit the SF-Marin Food Bank and Jewish Family & Children’s Services. We are accepting:
- Healthy snacks
- Canned protein
- Non-meat protein (i.e.: peanut butter)
- Shelf-stable fruit cups
- Canned goods not requiring a can opener (for example, pop-top soups and entrees)
