Recordings Of Emanu-El
In 1996, Cantor Roslyn Barak released her first CD, “The Jewish Soul”. It presents a wide range of music including prayers, folk songs, Yiddish songs, and settings of liturgy by Ravel and Weill. The CD has been distributed throughout the world and is available here at Temple Emanu-El or through various Jewish music distributors, as well as Amazon.com. The recording received acclaim in the press and has enjoyed wide success.
The two most recent recordings are “Libi B’Ma’arav” and “Hallel V’Zimrah”. The former includes our commissioned works by Michael Isaacson (Havdalah) and Ami Aloni (Isaiah’s Consolations) as well as “Miriam’s Song” by Jill Higgins. The latter is music regularly presented in worship here at Temple Emanu-El’s main services, and features Kol Emanu-El, our adult volunteer choir, alongside the Congregation Emanu-El professional choir, and organist Charles Rus.
CDs are also available of prayers and blessings, as well as melodies of our alternate Minyan service, featuring Cantor Marsha Attie.
Hallel V’Zimrah presents favorites of our worship services at Emanu-El. Included are Shabbat, Festival, and High Holy Day music performed by our choirs, former organist Charles Rus, and Cantor Roslyn Barak. This recording was made possible through the generosity of Mr. Walter Freudenthal in memory of his beloved wife, Fannie.
Libi B’Maarav includes two works, commissioned by Congregation Emanu-El: “Havdalah” by Michael Isaacson (with poetry by Rabbi Stephen Pearce) and “Consolations of Isaiah” by Ami Aloni. Also included is “Miriam’s Song” by Andrea Jill Higgins (poetry by Rabbi Ruth Sohn), which Cantor Barak performed at her 10th anniversary concert.
“Hallel V’Zimrah” and “Libi B’Maarav” are available without cost to Temple members. “The Jewish Soul” is available for $15.00. Please request them through her assistant
