Statement from Emanu-El Clergy on Chabad Synagogue Shooting
April 27, 2019
Once again our hearts are grieved by news of violence in America.
Once again that violence is directed as a hate crime toward our Jewish community.
Our hearts go out to the family and friends that lost a loved one, to those injured, and to the members of the Chabad synagogue who witnessed such violence.
We stand against hate against all people.
We see the rise in anti-Semitism.
We see the emboldening of white supremacists.
We know that together we must all work to change the atmosphere of this time that enables haters who have access to guns.
Know that our Temple is working with the San Francisco police department as well as with our security team to ensure that Congregation Emanu-El continues to be a place of shalom and support and safety.
We will continue to not only pray for a world of peace, but do everything in our power to work with San Franciscans of all faiths to bring peace.
L’Shalom,
Your Emanu-El Clergy
