Pre-Late Shabbat Meditation
Friday, December 13
Come relax into Shabbat with Congregation Emanu-El’s young adult meditation group from 7:30-8:30 pm right before Late Shabbat! Join us for a short guided meditation and a chance to connect and engage in a mindful discussion afterward. We’ll meet in the chapel at Congregation Emanu-El and all head to Late Shabbat together at the conclusion of the meditation + discussion.
Desiree Matloob will lead the session, and has been meditating regularly since 2008. She has engaged in a variety of meditation practices, from 10-day silent Vipassana meditation retreats and 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses, to Jewish mindfulness retreats in Israel/the Bay Area and Zen meditation groups in the city.

Accompany hundreds of young adults for a contemporary Shabbat service led by members of our clergy! The Shabbat service is followed by an Oneg featuring schmoozing, snacks and spirits.

Volunteer Day with St. Anthony’s

Do you enjoy being active, making an impact, and meeting new people? Join the Young Adult Community of Congregation Emanuel for a volunteer day in the St. Anthony’s Dining Room! Spots are limited, so sign-up today!The volunteer session will include serving meals to those San Franciscans most in need while building community with both our guests and like-minded young adults.The volunteer session will begin with a 20 minute Justice Education orientation, which provides an overview of St. Anthony’s and the Tenderloin community.

Toys for Tots requests new, unwrapped toys for children and youth on Saturday, December 7th, 2019 , Adam Swig and Adrian Goddard bring the hottest Hanukkah event in the USA to a new venue at The Hotel Kabuki in San Francisco’s Japantown.
Celebrating it’s 6th consecutive year, there’s a reason this party gets bigger every time! Featuring multiple rooms, a live band, pop up musical performances, DJ Brandon Beach, Burlesque Performances from Apothecary Raree and more!
Please bring new, unwrapped toys for underprivileged children as we celebrate the holiday giving season with Toys for Tots and the US Marines. Marines will be on hand in uniform to accept your gifts and greet you as we try to reclaim our single evening SF toy drive record set a few years ago. Complimentary Dreidels and premium kosher gelt + installations and giveaways.

Emanu-El 30s/40s Group: A group for adults in their 30s and 40s, we regularly come together in meaningful ways to have fun, develop meaningful relationships, and deepen our Jewish identity through spiritual, educational, social, and service oriented programming. Most events are open to congregants and non-congregants, but certain events are congregant-only. For more information on events in this group contact Rachel Melman.
Join the Emanu-El 30s and 40s community for a jazz-filled Chanukah celebration. We have a semi-private space reserved at Mr. Tipple’s Recording Studio (live jazz every night!) from 6-9PM where we’ll have latkes and some other light appetizers. Your first drink is also included in your ticket price. Registration closes at noon on Friday, December 13.
After registration closes, a limited number of tickets will be available at Mr. Tipple’s (depending on capacity) for $45 per person
