Winter Interfaith Shelter Dinner
Sunday, January 21, 5:00-8:30 pm
St Mark’s Lutheran Church
1111 O’Farrell St
Volunteer to cook dinner with other young adults during our winter Interfaith Shelter Dinners! Every January, Congregation Emanu-El joins in the mitzvah of feeding the hungry by providing volunteers to shop, cook and serve dinner to over 100 homeless men for eight consecutive nights at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. These clients are extremely grateful to receive home-cooked meals served by people who look them in the eye and let them know they care.
The Setup Downtown SF: Stand Up Comedy
Thursday, February 1, 7:45-9:30 pm
The Beer Basement
222 Hyde Street
Join members of the Young Adult Community at Congregation Emanu-El for a night at The Setup, an underground stand up comedy show located at the newly opened Ales Unlimited: Beer Basement in the heart of San Francisco. The show will be hosted by local favorites Richard Sarvate and Abhay Nadkarni and will feature established comedians from around the country as well as local up-and-coming stars. Their goal is to provide a truly raw alternative experience. San Francisco is known for indulging and incubating the absurd whims, oddities, and genius of the freaks who call it home. Think Lenny Bruce, Robin Williams, Jefferson Airplane. Comedians on the stage that night will be announced closer to the event.
We have 30 discounted tickets for our community! If you sign up through us, we will be there before the show to give you your ticket at the venue.
Front Porch: A Special Opportunity for Members of Emanu-El
Are you looking to take a deep dive and really build meaningful relationships with other young adults in our community? We invite you to join Front Porch.
Through this innovative program we are matching young adults in groups and providing short videos and discussion materials to guide the relationship building. We want the groups to get together for six home hosted sessions over the course of six months. We have a box of materials for each group with all of the supplies you will need—video links, session agendas, handouts and discussion questions. The six topics are: sacred space, sacred time, social justice, money, legacy, and community. Check out this video to learn more.
We have hit capacity for our Fall course, please click on the link below to join our waitlist. We will notify you when we have dates for our next session in early 2018.
