Youth & Family Education Assistant Operations Manager
Congregation Emanu-El is a vibrant, sacred Jewish community that is essential in the lives of our congregants. We are dedicated to connecting members with their Judaism and history at the highest level and bringing Jewish values to life in meaningful and inspiring ways. Our Youth and Family Education program (YFE) serves 700 students in grades K-12, providing a variety of Jewish education and community building experiences including Sunday school, Hebrew classes, retreats, family events, and service projects. The Assistant Operations Manager plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of Sunday programs, staff support, logistics, and parent communications. This is a full-time position, including Sundays.
Primary Tasks
Staff Support & Communications
- Track attendance and communicating staff work hours to Payroll Specialist
- Coordinate substitutes as needed
- Observe classroom activities and checking-in with teachers on a weekly basis
- Conduct team meetings
Logistics
- Submit room requests and overseeing the setup Sunday programs
- Follow up on student absences
- Manage lost & found
- Manage inventory of school supplies
- Oversee “snack time”
- Collect and summarizing program evaluations
- Research community calendars
Parent Communication
- Schedule and write bimonthly emails, updating families about upcoming events, recent learning and home reinforcement tools
Event Support
- Host Saturday and Sunday programs, retreats and special events, welcoming families, collecting evaluations, and providing logistical support
Safety & Security
- Creating and implementing emergency and safety protocols in collaboration with security staff
Qualifications
- Professional experience in educational programs (schools, camps, supplementary, etc)
- Detail-oriented and strong organization skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to professionally adapt to different audiences (youth, parents, staff)
- Good time management, self-motivated, meets deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Salesforce a plus
- Team player
- Familiarity with Jewish culture, community, and organizations preferred
- Experience in people management preferred
